Privacy policy
DegreeMapper is an editorial directory of community colleges and transfer pathways. This privacy policy describes the personal information we collect from visitors, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the public website at this domain. By using the site you agree to the practices described here.
What we collect
We collect three categories of information automatically when you visit the site. First, standard server logs: your IP address, the pages you request, your browser user-agent string, the page that referred you, and the timestamp of each request. These are kept for security and basic analytics for a limited retention period. Second, cookies set by our analytics provider (if enabled) to count unique visitors and aggregate traffic patterns. Third, cookies and tracking identifiers set by our advertising partners, described below.
Advertising
This site displays advertising served by third-party programmatic ad networks. Those networks may set cookies, web beacons, or similar identifiers to deliver and measure ads. Advertising partners commonly process information including approximate geographic location, browsing patterns across sites participating in the same advertising network, device characteristics, and inferred interests. You can opt out of personalized advertising at industry-wide opt-out pages maintained by the Digital Advertising Alliance and the Network Advertising Initiative; you can also adjust personalized-advertising settings directly in your operating system.
Cookies
We use a small number of first-party cookies for site functionality (for example, remembering interface preferences) and a larger number of third-party cookies set by analytics and advertising partners. You can clear or block cookies at any time through your browser settings. Blocking cookies will not prevent you from reading any page on the site, but it may reduce the relevance of the advertising you see.
What we do not collect
We do not require account creation, do not collect names, email addresses, or contact information from ordinary visitors, do not run forms that submit personal data to our servers, and do not sell or rent visitor information to third parties. If you write to us via the contact page, we receive whatever information you choose to include in your email and use it only to respond.
Children
The site is intended for an audience of high school graduates and adult learners researching higher education options. We do not knowingly collect information from children under thirteen.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to processing. Because we collect very little personal data from ordinary visitors, most such requests will simply confirm that we hold no identifiable information about you. To make a rights request, write to us via the contact page.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always posted on this page with the effective date. Continued use of the site after a change indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
Effective date: July 2, 2026.
